At the heart of the historic docks is this waterfront complex of cafés and speciality shops. Its covered courtyard gives access to Phillpotts Warehouse, which now houses the Edinburgh Woollen Mill. The warehouse was built in 1846 by canny corn merchant Abraham Phillpotts, who realised that the repeal of the Corn Laws would create a rise in corn imports. It was one of fifteen warehouses renovated as part of the regeneration of the docks as a leisure centre.
